Common Mistake

Mixing up 欲しい (hoshii) and たい (tai)

  • 欲しい is for wanting things: 水が欲しい (mizu ga hoshii - I want water)
  • たい is for wanting to do actions: 水を飲みたい (mizu o nomitai - I want to drink water)

Forgetting 毎 changes readings

  • 毎朝 = maiasa (not maiasa)
  • 毎月 = maitsuki (not maigetsu)
  • 毎年 = mainen (not mainen)
